Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then found many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident made him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
