The Turin Giants Name Former Italy Head Coach the Experienced Gaffer

Juventus have named former Azzurri boss Luciano Spalletti to lead the team for the rest of the term.

The 66-year-old steps in for Igor Tudor, who was dismissed post the Lazio setback last weekend.

Tudor arrived at the club in March as Thiago Motta's replacement but exited following a seven-month stint after an eight-game winless streak.

Spalletti led Napoli to the Serie A title in 2022-23 before taking charge of Italy, after the team's failure to reach the 2022 World Cup during Roberto Mancini's tenure.

He secured their spot in Euro 2024 where they were knocked out in the last 16 by Switzerland.

Yet, the Italian FA let Spalletti go in June following a loss to Norway in World Cup qualifying, putting Italy in danger of missing a third straight World Cup.

He has previously coached Inter Milan, Roma, and Udinese in Italy's top flight and lifted the Russian league trophy twice while at Zenit St Petersburg.

Juventus were temporarily led by Massimo Brambilla in the midweek 3-1 triumph over Udinese moving them to seventh position in the league - six points behind leaders Napoli after nine games.

Their Champions League campaign sees them in 25th place in the group stage, after recording one defeat and two ties in the initial three fixtures.
