A man who spiked candy with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two young males both nine and ten years old.

The accused was arrested after eight youngsters and one adult experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he disputed one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.

The accused was kept in jail prior to a subsequent court date on late November.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.

She said his targets were under-privileged children who were participating in a youth camp which he managed.

Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".

She told the court Ruben had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and children had previously become sick the subsequent day.

She stated Ruben had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had concerns in recently.

The legal representative stated further: "This year his stepchild had worries about the activities, with valid cause.

"They chose" to examine in the defendant's belongings."

Mrs Prior KC said materials including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his family member notified the authorities about his worries.

She said Ruben continued to play the "candy game" with six boys that evening - that Saturday - and they were all ill the next day.

"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she added.

The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the incident.

The legal representative stated the children were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the authorities again.

She stated Ruben then engaged in the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
